5. "This year was my first year that I was able to attend the MAGIC Foundation Convention in Chicago. I come from a small town in Arizona where we are the only ones with a blind child. When my daughter was diagnosed with Septo-Optic Dysplasia when she was 3 months old we had no idea what to expect. There was not much in our community in a way of helping us or telling us about it. When we heard about the MAGIC Foundation we were very curious. We did some looking on it and joined the chat group. Since I have been a member of it it has been wonderful. I have to say it was the most awesome experience I have had the pleasure of enjoying. We could not believe the vast amount of people there attending the conference. We have never experienced anything like that. The first night (Thursday) there were so many vendor and suppliers there that it was neat to get to see some of the other items that are available and to talk to them and ask questions. It was really neat that you could meet the other parents of the same division as you in a no pressure situation. Friday for the educational segments I was in awe. We found out more of what it was that she had and what was actually wrong. We learned so many things that we didn't know. Now when some one asks us what SOD is I can actually explain it. It was really neat the question and answer portion after the Doctor spoke. It gave us the chance to hear from some of the other parents and some of the things that they have discovered and gone through. The Hawaiian night was absolutely awesome. We have never seen so many people together having fun.
It was very catching. We enjoyed it so much. I am definitely planning on going next year and am hoping to take more of the family with us. I would recommend that anyone who can go do so. It was an experience that we won't soon forget. Thanks for the chance and the opportunity to learn more about it. "
6. "I enjoyed the conference so much I can't even tell you. People have asked me questions and it is so hard to describe my feelings. Saturday night was so emotional because of the wonderful friendships that I had made. Bring surrounded by so many families with things in common is priceless.
